The Western Wildcats come off a big victory 33-7 over a non district opponent last Friday night as they hosted the Bulldogs of South Broward for a home season opener.

HSPN Sports supports and gives national exposure to the Western Wildcats because Head Coach Adam Ratkevich has his starters STEALTH Rated and many of the student athletes on the team are in the PTRG Academy mastering the recruiting process while becoming college and career ready.

The Bulldogs went up in the first quarter on a special teams play by their punt returner who took a punt from the Wildcats to the house putting up the first points of the game. But, the Wildcats answered quickly with a touchdown, missing the extra point and bringing the score back to within one point to end the first quarter of play with the Bulldogs up 7-6.

The Wildcats defense was definitely the difference in this game as they held the Bulldogs scoreless, created 4 turnovers and even put 6 points on the board when Robbie Ruebel took an interception all the way to the end zone. The defensive line and linebackers of the Wildcats caused havoc all night shutting down the running lanes stopping the Bulldogs running game all night.

QB Harrison Story

QB Harrison Story

Everyone knows the Wildcats have offensive firepower led by senior QB Harrison Story with all of his returning starters, and it didn’t take long for Story to get his offense revved up and putting points on the board on the Bulldogs turnovers. And the Western Wildcats Big ‘O’ Line gave Story plenty of time to throw the ball as well as blowing gaping holes open for Keshaun Clarke to run through and score on short yardage. The Big ‘O’ Line allowed Harrison 5-7 seconds to look off his reads to make great throws all night. And every QB in the nation knows how important it is to have that kind of protection and time to throw the ball.

Story threw for 147 yards and went 8/15 with 2 TD’s. Story also put points on the board running the ball 3 times for 52 yards and 1 TD. And his 1 rushing TD came on a short yardage 4th down play when the snap was bobbled, Story picked the ball up off the turf and took it for most of those 52 yards to the end zone.

Story wasn’t the only Wildcat to put points on the board. Running back Keshaun Clarke was the leading rusher of the night gaining 70 yards on 14 carries with 1 TD. Daniel Colon rushed for 45 yards on 7 carries with 1 TD. Clark also added another TD for the night on a reception from Story. Clarke had a total of 3 catches for 45 yards.

Story’s also had a TD pass go to Jordan Smith. Smith had a big night with 3 catches for 85 yards and 1 TD.

This week the Wildcats go to play another non district game as they take on the Dillard Panthers in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The Wildcats will return home the following week playing the Hallandale Chargers and the game will be broadcast LIVE on HSPN Sports.

HSPN Sports wants to give credit to and acknowledge the inaugural game broadcast at Western High School with our intern staff of broadcast students (that attend the school) that manned the video cameras for the live broadcast and took photos of the game.
