Miramar transfer QB Demari Simpkins makes the right offseason move to position himself to not only play on a championship program but also get the exposure he needs to play at the next level.  Before catching his first pass as a WR for the Hallandale Chargers Simpkins had already received his first of 5 offers from major football programs around the nation just by simply being under the leadership of Head Coach Dameon Jones.

Simpkins played both WR, catching a 10 yard slant pass from Huntley for a TD in the 1st half, and then coming in after halftime at QB.

Listen to the interview and hear what Simpkins had to say when asked what the biggest impact Head Coach Jones had on him when he arrived on campus.’ The first thing Coach Jones made me do was get my highlight video in order.’ Simpkins said, ‘He told me that I needed the first 5 plays to be the best 5 plays because that would make the biggest impact on a College Coach. He was right, as soon as I sent it out I received 5 offers.’

Demari talks about how his leadership ability helped ease the transition into the Hallandale family as well as being able to take on the role of playing WR. He talks candidly about what advice he would give to any student athlete that was contemplating transferring and what it really entails from having hands on experience with the process.

Simpkins committed to Utah early in August and will be an early enrollee and gave plenty of advice on what a student athlete needs to do to graduate early from high school. He’s excited to play for Coach Dennis Erickson and is looking forward to joining his Hallandale teammate QB Tyler Huntley on campus this January.
