HSPN WEST – CALIFORNIA; Etiwanda Outlasts Chino Hills 66 to 63 in Friday the 13th Thriller!

If not for being mid-October and the height of the high school football season, you would’ve thought the Ball brothers were back playing basketball for Chino Hills High School after seeing last night’s final score between Etiwanda and Chino Hills.  The Eagles finished off the Huskies with a touchdown in their final possession and were smart enough to leave the Huskies with just 17 seconds on the clock and no time outs.

Lawrence StarksLawrence Starks, Etiwanda Eagles senior running back, had a monster night on this Friday the 13th! It was only fitting that he scored on a 1-yard run to put the Eagles ahead for the final time 66 to 63.  It was the 5th touchdown of the day for Starks who carried the ball 34 times for a total of 242 yards.  He also caught 2 passes for another 32 yards in case his rushing wasn’t enough.  All that Starks didn’t do was play defense, but neither did anyone else according to the score.  Starks definitely earned a seat on the “Iron Throne” [for all of you Game of Thrones fans like me].

WALTER CARL IIIChino Hills scored with just 49 seconds remaining in the game to go ahead 63 to 60.  At that point I literally had to stand in the middle of the back of the end zone and wait to see who would actually win the football game.  The Huskies also had a running back who had a big night as well.  Walter Carl, III who is just a junior, could have easily won Impact Player of the Game honors himself had Chino Hills held on to win.  Carl also ran for more than 100 yards, and scored three times himself.

RaeanneOne of the biggest stories of the night, which highlights the entire evening, was watching Chino Hill’s junior placekicker and NCAA Division I soccer commit Raeanne Jones not only make all of her extra points, she was also crowned 2017 Homecoming Queen for Chino Hills. Now try to match that incredible accomplishment!
