Eagles Win at the Wire over the Spartans 51-40

Eisenhower High leaned on the leadership and resolve of its senior quarterback, Ceasar Ayala to make the plays that would eventually subdue the San Gorgonio Spartans 51-40. Ayala threw for two touchdowns, and 268 yards pushing the Eagles past the Spartans, and to the top of the San Andreas League. Ayala’s critical moment came late the fourth quarter. The ‘Ikes’ were facing third and 15 and in desperate need of a conversion leading 44-40, with San Gorgonio having just scored and momentum building. Ayala calmly hit Isaac Baker on a 37 yard wheel route en route to their final score to create a 51-40 margin.

#44 Jaheim Crawford

The Spartans had an answer each time the Eagles mounted a threat. They had significant contributions from their top running back, Jaheim Crawford, who ran for 86 yards, not to be overshadowed by SG’s Seth Burbine’s 270 yards passing and three touchdowns.

Eisnehower’s ‘HSPN Sports Impact Players’ were no less spectacular in helping the ‘Ikes’ to victory. Running back Jordan Goodloe ran for 96 yards, and reciever/kick-off returner/athlete, Devon “Special” Benton had a spectacular 90-yard kick-off return in the third quarter to change the momentum of the game.

“Special” kick-off return

HSPN Sports West heads out to Orange County next Friday, November 1 for another key league showdown between the Orange Panthers and the Santa Ana Saints from Chapman University — 7:00 PM.
