Carol City Chiefs Offensive Lineman Were a Key Factor in the Chiefs Big Victory Over the Eagles 35-0

Miami Carol City Chiefs celebrate a victory against the Eagles of Southwest Miami Senior High School on their Homecoming Night at Nathaniel Traz Powell Stadium in Miami last Thursday evening. The Chiefs coming into Week 7 of the Football season with an overall record of (5-1) and undefeated in their district at (2-0).

“We had to redefine ourselves and our goals for the overall season. We are taking it one game at a time” says Coach Aubrey Hill on Thursday before the game. Coach Hill and the Chiefs only suffer from one loss in their season opener. There are very high expectations for this Carol City team this season from its’ coaching staff and returning players. Coach Hill, a seasoned Head Football Coach, understands the dynamics of his Student Athletes and it clearly shows on the gridiron. The Chiefs, showed the nation how resilient they are by taking down what most would say the top team in South Florida that has won 3 consecutive Florida State Championships, Miami Central High School Rockets in Week 6.

There was no doubt the Chiefs came into this game with the mental edge against the Eagles. Coming off a big win and a Homecoming Crowd, the Chiefs proved their dominance on the offensive and defensive side of the ball showing the nation on HSPN SPORTS Live Broadcast that once again they are top contenders here in South Florida as well as the entire state.

1_008Second String Quarterback Lorenzo Floyd #14 stood strong on the field while Starting QB Stephen Calvert #12 rested a minor injury he sustained during the Miami Central Game. The Freshman QB took command of the offense early as if he had been playing all season and that’s because of the guys up front that provided the young freshman Floyd the time needed to make his reads and go on to throw an impressive 5 TD passes. Impact Player, Montrell Newton Jr. #51 at the center position, gave the Freshman the much needed time to use his weapons (Kevaughn Dingle, Smith) on the exterior effectively. But, the other Big 4; #66 Sr. Ty’Ron Jones, #63 So. Leonard Lucas, #78 Sr. Tristian Anderson and #75 Sr. Dante Rose provided big holes and a pocket that Floyd could ‘hitch step’ up into that provided him plenty of time to rip the ball to his wide receivers.

Time Management was one of the few things on Coach Hill’s to do’s list and he made it clear that he wanted to establish the run game against the Eagles. (#5) Freshman RB Nayquan Wright and (#22) Sophomore RB Cameron Davis were the favorites of the night sharing time in the backfield alongside Floyd. Impact Player (#5) Freshman RB Nayquan Wright showed off his ability to run forcing the Eagles to stay discipline and honor the run game. Both Backs effectively provided the Chiefs offense with opportunities to establish the Passing game resulting 5 TD’s in the air.

Head Coach Tim Neal and the Eagles (4-1) struggled to find any success on the Offensive side of the ball. QB John ‘JJ’ Jaramillo #7 felt the pressure early on from the Chiefs Defensive front; forcing him to try and force throws into coverage. The Eagles came into this game with their first loss coming against Belen Jesuit in the last minutes of that game. Coach Neal made it clear before the game that they were expecting a dogfight and his only concerned was the lack of depth on his team.

If the Chiefs can win this week against District foe Miami Norland and their seasoned QB Buckshot Calvert stays healthy the rest of the year they will be in a great position to win the District and make a push to get to the big game in Orlando in December.
